From The Hause continue over into Martindale. At the road junction bear left. Pass Martindale 'old church' on your left and cross the bridge over Howgrain Beck,  you will spot a bridleway on passing the farm, take the path towards Beda fell which is only followed for a short distance before the path to the right which crosses over the north ridge of Beda fell.

The path climbs steeply but at the top there is a nice bench to stop for a drink or to admire the views.

The path follows the ridge line to winter crag which has some rocky sections but easy to by pass, the path goes over the top when you will then see the summit of Beda fell in front of you. The path passes below a series of rock outcrops before meeting the steepest part of the north ridge to the summit which has a small cairn.

Return the same way, or you can drop off to the left of the summit to make it a circular walk.
