EASY WALKING

This walk is on a great stone track, through just over surrender bridge on the left, there is also just in front of the carpark a small section of ruins to explore before or after the circular walk.

This is a quiet valley walk along the river the first ruins on your right are one of the biggest in the Dales.

If the river is dry you can head down to the river bed and search for fossils, we spent a couple of hours walking in the river bed and found various crinoid fossils.

The path starts to rise as you turn and head over the open Moorland, be careful in bad weather as it gets quite exposed.

The walk is a full circular walk taking you back to the road leading to the car.

You can extend this walk and do Gunnerside and old gang together, making it a longer walk, we tend to do them separate as we love exploring each ruins and stopping for snacks to admire the views.
