STAINFORTH FORCE

STAINFORTH FORCE, CATRIGG FORCE AND HOFFMAN LIME KILNS

Yorkshire Dales

PARKING-STAINFORTH NATIONAL CAR PARK, CHAPEL GATE, BD24 9PF

MILES- 5-6  MILES approx

FACILITIES- TOILETS AT THE START

TERRAIN-NO DIRECT ROUTE OR SIGN POSTS FOR THIS CIRCULAR, BUT GOOD PATHS, LOW LEVEL APART FROM CATRIGG FORCE

From the car park both Stainforth force and Catrigg force is signposted but in opposite directions.

We began with Stainforth force and followed the signpost, sometimes you can see Salmon and otters. We then walked along the grass path past the waterfall and followed the river which was on our left.

The next field sometimes has cattle in, be careful with dogs as we seen people turn back at this point as its a small field with the cows on the path.

Its approx 2 miles from the car park to our next point of Langcliffe, you contiune along the path until you reach a bridge which we crossed and then crossed the stile in the wall to walk back along the river for 15 minutes.

This path took us to a working quarry and main road.

Cross the road and go under the bridge in front of you, this starts the trail of the Hoffman Lime kilns which is sign posted throughout approx 1.5 mile circular walk. At the last sign you will see a stile across to a open field.

Cross this and head directly for the bottom corner of the field.

You then follow the road via a main path back to the main car park where you then follow the sign to Catrgigg force, along  a stone path which is all signed, this is a slight incline the whole way up before you turn to head down to the waterfall approx 1.5 miles from the car park to the waterfall.
