SITUATED IN THE FAR EASTERN FELLS WAINWIGHT 195

LAKE DISTRICT

PARKING- St. Peter's Church on Martindale Hause CA10 2NF

MILES- 2-3 MILES

ASCENT-350m approx

FACILITIES-No facilities, closest would be Pooley bridge

TERRAIN  - Steep grass slopes and crags requiring care and minor scrambling

From the parking area opposite St Peter's Church,  cross the road and head between the church and the wall. Follow this wall passing a small muddy tarn, to your left and continue alongside the wall.

Here is a faint path , avoid going far from the wall and do not climb the hillside.

In approximately 700m  the wall drops down to the old church in Martindale, leave the wall and continue  ahead to meet the path rising from the old church.

The path continues a rising traverse, the slope is quite gentle, can can muddy after a lot of rain. Reaching the wall, either turn left and follow the  steps cut into the grass. You can also go through the gate until you reach the ridge path to the summit where you will see the large stone.

You can continue down the same way or make it a circular walk by continuing forward where the path zigzags its way down, steep and rocky in some sections, but mainly grass path.
